One-to-one tuition
This lets students work on their individual needs and goals related to vocal skills.
Group tuition
Here, each student continues receiving individual attention, while also benefitting from peer support and encouragement. The focus of these sessions is to develop vocal skills and confidence when performing.
Annual showcases
Over the past thirty years, our annual events have been praised for their quality. They let our students showcase their talents and learning, and each event is an original creation. We develop our showcases in collaboration with dance organisations or local performing arts colleges, with themes like celebrating community culture and history.
These events are usually ticketed, and any profit supports the subsidised charges for our performing arts services.
How do our services help?
Singing has been shown to have many benefits for your mental, physical and emotional health. These include
Besides the above, the voice is a key component of who we are. The way we use it reflects our mood and general psychological wellbeing, which is communicated to ourselves as well as others. That’s what makes choirs a great way to bring people together, as well as improve social wellbeing and cohesion.
‘Adult N‘
“I attended NOPA in 1996 which was very influential for me and my daughters as we all went on to do great things. When I started, I was a struggling single parent of 5 which was very challenging for me and NOPA provided a refuge and platform to succeed. It was such a life-line that I really don’t know how I would have got through.
I attended NOPA for 10 years and was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I didn’t just learn about performance skills, they provided me with counselling and confidence building which was amazing! I also discovered that I am the master of my thoughts and that dreams come true if I apply myself and have faith.
Since NOPA, I’ve gone on to travel the world, Performing at some of the best venues and I sing with many established artists such as Mary Wilson, Rita Ora, Levi Roots and many more. I have gone on to produce my debut album and have just released a single from it. I am very confident in myself no matter what I encounter. I continue to develop and realise my full potential.
My daughters have also produced excellent results after attending NOPA! One became a journalist for the BBC, an events coordinator and now is a director for a podcast which she has created. My other daughter is a professional jazz singer and has released an album. She travels worldwide performing and is an excellent performer! I clearly recognise the skills she acquired whilst at NOPA. One of my daughters was offered Counselling from NOPA while she attended as she was experiencing her own challenges and this was very instrumental in her development and I am always truly thankful to NOPA for their input in our lives.
I always felt relaxed, understood and never judged or discriminated against with any of the staff. There was a time when I struggled financially and was offered 1-2-1 sessions for budgeting which also helped. When I was finally able to support my family without benefits, I really struggled. NOPA offered me a concession so that I was still able to attend! I will always be indebted to NOPA and still perform with them today!”
